In the weeks leading up to an All Y’all live storytelling event, Sara and I spend countless hours with our storytellers. Nearly every night, we gather for dinners, scramble to impromptu cocktail hours, meet up at Rhino Coffee and huddle together, doing our best to assist these brave storytellers who’ve agreed to tell their tales live onstage. A bond of friendship forms, quickly, in those hot fires. In the weeks following a live event, we’ll occasionally just really, deeply miss one of our storytellers.
We’ve been missing Annie Mills, whose story, “The Last Time I Played Bridge,” is a hilarious, action-packed recollection of what may be the worst first date we’ve ever heard of. Annie’s story, which was recorded live at the Woman’s Department Club of Shreveport, reminded us that, in life and in love, it’s always a roll of the dice. Sometimes you sail into the sunset, and sometimes you crash into a reef and get eaten by sharks – but you’ve gotta get in the boat. Or the plane, in this case.
Tickets now on sale for All Y’all: Brush With Fame
Tickets are now on sale for “Brush with Fame,” which will be held at 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 6 at Shreveport Little Theatre (purchase tickets here). Brush With Fame will include stories of regular people who’ve had close encounters with larger-than-life figures. We’ll have a cash bar provided by Wine Country Bistro & Bottle Shop (with a cocktail hour beginning at 6 p.m.!), six great storytellers and – for the first time ever – an official All Y’all drinking game. Yep.
Have you had a shot at the big time? Or, have you had a celebrity encounter? If so, All Y’all would love to hear your story! Just call the story hotline at (318) 582-0665 and tell us how it went down.
